Great Wall Trekking and the Minya Konka Circuit
Let’s dive into the chaotic Chinese capital, Beijing, with its contrasts between ancient and modern, communism and imperial era, its scents of delicious dishes coming from street food stalls at the feet of immense skyscrapers, and then retreat for a few days into the mountains north of Beijing, on a trek that will take us to the most desolate areas of the Great Wall of China. We then land in Chengdu, the capital of Western China, famous for its colourful traditional costumes and spicy food, and once again leave the chaotic metropolitan area to embark on a trek along an ancient spiritual path of Tibetan monks: the “kora” around Minya Konka, which from its 7556m dominates the Tibetan plateau standing out among the snow-capped peaks of the Daxue mountain range.
